Clinic Design

When designing our clinic, we prioritise several key elements to ensure an optimal experience.

Entries / Exits & Reception

Positive reinforcement begins at the entries into the clinic with treats stands containing treats. We have two entries / exits into the clinic; one on Toorak Road and one from our carpark on the Northern side of the building so clients can choose the entry or exit point that’s best for their dog.
Our reception area is spacious and, as much as possible, we have placed seating so that dogs do not have to sit facing each other.

Non-Slip Floors

First and foremost, we recognise the need for non-slip flooring. With dogs of various sizes coming into our clinic, it is imperative that our flooring provides stability, reducing the risk of accidents or injuries.

Lighting &  Audio

When it comes to lighting, we aim for an appropriate balance. We opt for gentle, LED lighting to create a calm and welcoming ambiance that doesn't cause discomfort or agitate dogs and use natural lighting where we can.
Soft classical music plays throughout the clinic as it has been proven to have a calming effect on dogs.

Colour

In terms of colour scheme, we understand that certain hues can influence emotions. We chose colours that promote a sense of tranquility and harmony within our clinic and consult rooms. Soft, muted tones such as pastel blues, greens, or light earthy colours are often preferred, as they have a calming effect on dogs. Coloured walls and flooring are also designed to not fluoresce under light to avoid brightly-illuminated spots suddenly appearing within a dog's visual range.

Olfactory

We utilise pheromone therapy throughout our clinic and in our consult room design. Pheromones, such as those produced by dogs' natural calming scents, are used in diffusers or sprays to create a soothing environment. These pheromones can help to reduce anxiety and promote relaxation during exams or consultations.
By incorporating these design elements into our clinic design, we strive to provide a positive and stress-free experience for both our canine patients and their human companions. At Melbourne Dog Clinic, we believe that a well-designed clinic can make a significant difference in the overall well-being of our furry friends during their vet visits.
